2018-2019 Readers Theater Series Announced

We are very excited to announce the 2018-2019 Readers Theater Series in conjunction with The Smith Flat House in Placerville.

The Sunshine Boys by Neil Simon, Directed by Lanny Langston

Al and Willie as “Lewis and Clark” were top billed vaudevillians for over forty years.  Now they aren’t even speaking.  When CBS requests them for a “History of Comedy” retrospect, a grudging reason brings the two back together again, along with a flood of memories, miseries and laughs.  Laugh as these two meet again.

Dinner Menu:  Slow braised short ribs, roasted vegetables, herbed potatoes, tossed salad with toasted squash seeds and a honey vinaigrette, house-made apple tarts.  Special dietary requests should be emailed to BoxOffice@ImaginationTheater.net

Twelve Angry Jurors

On a hot summer day after a long trial, a jury must decide whether a 19-year-old man is guilty of murdering his father. The jury votes 11-1 that the man is guilty of the crime, but laws in the United States require a unanimous vote by all 12 jurors in order to pass judgment. Tempers flare as the eleven jurors try their best to convince the 1 dissenter to come around to their side. As the evidence is re-examined, however, new uncertainties come to light, forcing everyone to truly question if there is in fact some measure of “reasonable doubt”. Twelve Angry Jurors is a heightened courtroom thriller that puts you on the edge of your seat while powerfully exploring what it means to live in a democracy.

Dinner Menu: Stuffed chicken with asparagus, herbed cheese and a white wine cream sauce, brussel sprout and winter vegetable hash, roasted beets, field greens and a sherry vinaigrette, poached salted caramel pear and Chantilly cream.  Special dietary requests should be emailed to BoxOffice@ImaginationTheater.net

Greater Tuna by Ed Howard, Directed by Lanny Langston

What do Arles Struvie, Thurston Wheelis, Aunt Pearl, Petey Fisk, Phineas Blye, and Rev. Spikes have in common? In this hilarious send-up of small-town morals and mores, they are all among the upstanding citizens of Tuna, Texas’ third-smallest town. The long-running Off Broadway hit features two actors creating the entire population of Tuna in a tour de force changing characters faster than a jack rabbit runs from a coyote. Two actors, twenty characters, and a barrel of laughs, y’all.

Dinner Menu: Spiced pork loin with a natural au jus, garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal roasted vegetables. chicory salad with sunflower seeds, shaved carrots and a white balsamic vinaigrette, carrot cake and candied walnuts.  Special dietary requests should be emailed to BoxOffice@ImaginationTheater.net
