Friday night, August 4th, Imagination Theater hosted it’s 10th annual “An Evening to Remember” at Imagination Theater, in the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. The event featured costumed actors, entertainment, a preview of upcoming shows, Southfork Confessions and Shrek, and audition and show information for Grapes of Wrath in 2018. The event also featured a silent and live auction, food catered by Capital Sierra Catering and Diane Wilkinson Catering, Wine, Beer, a Wine Wheelbarrow Raffle and a lot of interactive fun. Thanks to all who attended, this was our most successful ever!
Actors from past shows dressed in costume and presented an exciting version of Be Our Guest which welcomed all of our guests to our event. A stage was set outside as well thanks to Shane Kaldunski for setting up the external sound system. Guests were entertained by Lorrene Baum Davis singing Beauty and the Beast and Kate Barba singing Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins.
Amanda Anderson performed Oom Pah Pah from Oliver! and had the crowd singing along with her. Caitlyn Miller touched us by her performance of What a Mother Does from A Christmas Story the Musical and Dennis Murry reminded us of how much we love Les Miserables as he sang a memorable performance of Stars.
Besides the many tempting baskets and fun silent auction items, there were 10 items auctioned off during our live auction which was run by a professional auctioneer. There was a lively battle for a couple of the fun getaways during the live auction.
The highlight of the evening was a preview from Shrek, our Winter show and from SouthFork Confessions, an original play opening in September. We were definitely intrigued and can’t wait for the shows to open.
The annual fundraiser was a success, bringing in more money than in prior years and receiving many compliments from our guests throughout the evening.
The event was the Theater’s 10th annual fundraising event and helps to provide quality live theater for the community.
